The Nomad 65 is the standout fit for Oman specifically: Gulf Craft built it as a beach-and-anchor explorer rather than a conventional flybridge, and it has a growing following among Saudi and Omani buyers who want that adventurous layout backed by a regional service network. For a more conventional flybridge, the Azimut 68 is one of the most common imports across all five markets we cover, so parts and service are rarely a problem even in a smaller market like Oman's. Larger flybridges such as the Ferretti 850 or Azimut Grande 27M do turn up here occasionally through the wider Gulf brokerage network, though supply is thin, confirm current availability with us directly.

Larger refit, engineering and crew-management work is typically routed through Dubai-based specialists and Gulf-wide yacht-management firms, since Oman's domestic yard capacity is limited, and we plan that into your ownership budget from day one rather than as a surprise later.

Duty, VAT and Flag Registration in Oman

The GCC Common External Tariff of 5% generally applies to imported vessels. Verify the exact HS heading with Omani Customs before you finalize a budget.

Oman's VAT stands at 5%, introduced 16 April 2021 under Royal Decree 121/2020, making Oman the fourth GCC state to implement VAT under the GCC Unified VAT Agreement. Recreational boat registration fees are tonnage-based on top of that: under 5 tonnes, 20,500 baisas per tonne, minimum OMR 40, maximum OMR 3,000; 5-50 tonnes, OMR 50 plus 500 baisas per tonne above 50 tonnes, maximum OMR 5,000.

Flag registration runs through MTCIT, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, via its Directorate General of Maritime Affairs and a maritime-affairs ePortal. Owners of Gulf-based leisure yachts frequently still choose an offshore flag, Cayman Islands or Marshall Islands, over Omani registration for resale and crew-licensing reasons. Omani flagging is more common for locally based tourist and cruise boats, and MTCIT has actively pushed owners of temporarily registered tourist and cruise boats to complete permanent registration, so confirm your obligations with MTCIT directly if you fall into that category.
